When it comes to healthy living, we usually think about diet and exercise.  We think about what we put into our bodies and how much we move our bodies.  But we don’t usually think about the things we put onto our hair and skin on a daily  basis.

A wide array of harmful chemicals are hiding within our daily health and beauty products.  Chemicals that can be absorbed by our skin, enter our bodies and be as harmful to us as anything we eat.   Look carefully at the ingredients contained in some of the following items:

  • Hairspray
  • Lip Balm
  • Skin lotions
  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Mouthwash
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Make up remover
  • Body sprays and creams
  • Make up (lipstick, foundation, eye shadow, mascara)

There are brands out there that manufacture specifically natural and non-harmful ingredients, but it’s necessary to look for those brands specifically.

Alternately you can do a little research, take a little time, and make your own!  It’s pretty easy, fun and will ultimately save money to boot.

Over the past few years, I have begun replacing all my daily health and beauty products with a home made natural alternative.  Whilst this does involve more of a time commitment and an initial investment in the right ingredients, it pays off in the long run.  Not only will you save money, but you will feel better about the lotions and potions you use in your daily health and beauty routine.
